A Delightful Day

Warning: this blog might be slightly random. I've got whole whack of thoughts in my head and this is what order they came out in.
Even though it's a chilly -22 out right now, it's beautiful. I love the fact that Winnipeg has such delightfully bright sunshine and almost every day of the week too.
The sunlight on the snow may blind me, but I love the feeling of the warmth of the sun mixed in with the chill of the wind. Unless of course that wind is sucking your breath right out of you and you have to walk backwards (I saw a woman doing this yesterday and it made me laugh out loud).

The other night I was out with some of my friends for a desert night at one of the schools profs houses. After our lovely evening, on our way back to the dorms the wind was softly blowing the snow off of the roofs and up into the air. It was this amazing vision of sparkling delight.

Here at CMU we have this huge castle like/Gothic looking building on our North campus. I've been thinking, ever since I got here that I should run over there and take some artsy pictures of it for you all to see. So hopefully this afternoon, even though it's cold, my friend Kylie and I are going to run over there and have fun going crazy with my camera.

So maybe later this week I'll have a post for you filled with pictures of my life at CMU so far!

I made it

Hey All,
I did make it here; alive and well, but freezing!!! It's so cold! And tomorrow it's supposed to be -50 with the wind chill. I think I might die.
However, everything else, besides the freezingness, is going great. I'm all moved into my dorm and have met all the girls on my floor. One of them (darn it, can't remember her name) has been coming into my room to study, as it is freezing in her room and boiling in mine. Quite nice to have someone to chat with.
I have four classes, plus the one online one that I'm finishing through TRU and my applied piano lessons. By this afternoon I will have attended all of my classes once and will know what books to buy and such.
I actually just spent almost $300.00 on one class alone! Eeek!
Anyways I have to run to lunch and get myself ready for my next two classes.
Thanks for all your prayers and encouraging notes.
If you want to send me a nice little letter. I'm Box 211 at the CMU address that you can find on the CMU website at the bottom of the home page.
Hope to hear from you soon!

The Unexpected

We all know that things happen which we least expect. This last week in my life, something like that happened.
After a lot of phone calls, some faxing and praying, I found out today that I have been accepted to the Canadian Mennonite University and that I will be flying out early Sunday morning to begin my classes on Monday.
It's hard to explain how it all happened but what I can say that would make the most sense is that God wants me there, so I am going.
It would seem that in my life, nothing goes quite how I have had it planned. Like Proverbs 19:6 says, "In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps." My course this year was to be in school, working towards my Music Therapy degree. God's steps for me was that I would attend TRU for the Fall semester and then move onto CMU for this Winter one.
It is hard for me to accept in some ways. I love living in this house with Kels, Bran, and Karen and will miss them and my other friends here a lot! I'm also excited about meeting new people and seeing another part of this amazing country (although I can't say that -20 or lower weather is very beneficial sounding).
So there is my unexpected news. I ask that you would all be praying for me; for His love to shine through me and that I would make some good friends soon. I will miss being in B.C. and being able to spend time with you all here.
I wish I could have seen your shocked faces when you read this...

Dr. Seuss

I have always love Dr. Seuss books. Their silly rhyming lines, the made up animals and characters, the bright primary colors that draw my eye in. It's simply a delight. The titles especially: One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?, Green Eggs and Ham.
But I have to say that my favorite Dr. Seuss of all time though is The Foot Book. The truth is that my love for this book is somewhat hilarious. In truth, I don't really like feet. Especially when people put their feet near my face, or if I look at peoples feet and see that they haven't cut their toe nails all time time (eeew long toe nails make me shiver), or especially when people touch my bare feet.
I do however, love this book. So I've posted it here for you to read because you all have to know how great it really is.

The Foot Book, by Dr. Seuss

Left foot, left foot

Right foot, right

Feet in the morning

Feet at night.

Left foot,

Left foot,

Left foot,

Right.

Wet foot, dry foot

Low foot, high foot

Front feet, back feet

Red feet, black feet

Left foot, right foot

Feet, feet, feet

How many, many feet you meet.

Slow feet, quick feet.

Trick feet, sick feet

Up feet, down feet

Here come the clown feet.

Small feet, big feet

Here come the pig feet.

His feet, her feet

Fuzzy fur feet

In the house and on the street,

How many, many feet you meet.

Up in the air feet

Over a chair feet

More and more feet

Twenty-four feet.

Here come more and more..................................and more feet!

Left foot. Right foot.

Feet. Feet. Feet.

Oh how many feet you meet.

Unfortunately it's not as nice without the pictures but I really do enjoy just reading it too. I hope you enjoyed it.
